Spa Plating’s Zinc Brush Plating Solution is ideal for repairing damaged zinc coatings, touching up missed areas after tank plating, carrying out restoration work and plating one-off engineering components. If a small batch of parts has accidentally been left out when sending components to the plating shop, or replacement parts are needed urgently for a vehicle show or repair, the solution provides a quick and practical way of matching the existing zinc finish. It is also ideal for plating individual components where only a modest coating thickness is required and the convenience of brush plating outweighs the need for setting up a plating tank.
Unlike tank plating, brush plating allows you to plate only the area requiring treatment. This makes it ideal for repairing damaged coatings, touching up missed areas and restoring localised corrosion protection without stripping and replating the whole component. The bright, slightly off-white deposit quickly polishes to a brilliant metallic finish using MPU or MPU Coarse.
Product Details
Developed for Engineering Repairs
Spa Plating has developed Zinc Brush Plating Solution for repairing damaged zinc coatings, touching up missed areas after tank plating and plating one-off steel, iron and cast iron components. It provides a practical way of restoring localised sacrificial corrosion protection without stripping and replating the whole component.
The solution is particularly useful in engineering workshops, electroplating shops and restoration work where only a small area or individual component requires plating.
Bright Zinc Deposits
The solution produces a bright, slightly off-white zinc deposit directly after plating. The deposit responds exceptionally well to hand polishing using MPU or MPU Coarse, producing an attractive bright metallic finish.
Localised and One-off Plating
Brush plating allows zinc to be applied only where it is needed. This makes the solution suitable for repairing handling damage, restoring worn zinc coatings and touching up small unplated areas without reprocessing the complete component.
It is also suitable for plating individual components where only a modest coating thickness is required and setting up a plating tank would be impractical.
Stable Electrolyte
We have developed the solution to provide stable day-to-day operation under the recommended brush plating conditions. It can be used with zinc, platinum or carbon electrodes and operates at room temperature.
Plating Calculator and Coulometer
We have included an interactive plating calculator to help determine the recommended plating conditions and target coating thickness.
For the greatest accuracy, use the Calculator together with the Coulometer. The Coulometer measures the total electrical charge passed through the workpiece, providing a more reliable indication of deposited thickness than plating time alone.
Designed for Practical Workshop Use
Zinc Brush Plating Solution suits both occasional and regular users who need a straightforward method of repairing or applying zinc coatings without using a plating tank.
Whether you are correcting a small defect after tank plating, restoring a vehicle component or plating a one-off engineering part, the solution provides a practical and flexible method of applying zinc exactly where it is required.

Notes:
-
- For the greatest accuracy when plating to a specified thickness, use the Coulometer together with the Calculator. Unlike plating time, the Coulometer measures the total electrical charge passed through the workpiece, helping to produce more consistent coating thicknesses even when brush plating conditions vary.
- Keep the swab well saturated with solution throughout plating. A dry swab reduces the electrical conductivity between the electrode and the workpiece, lowering the plating rate.
